Maya collection

Allow us to introduce our brand’s third collection, entitled Maya. The Maya bag takes inspiration from the beautiful leather and bronze trunks of the Tuareg people in Mali. The trunks are reinforced with wood, covered with hand-tanned leather, and often embellished with bronze hardware for the final touch. Women in Mali and across the Sahel use these intricate and sturdy leather pieces to store personal belongings such as fabrics, khol and incense, much like a traditional walk-in closet. They are also used to store family jewelry passed down through generations of women, making them real-life treasure chests. The NILHANE Maya bag has a rectangular shape, with a reinforced rectangular flap in the center of the bag, reminiscent of the vertical flap that closes the Tuareg leather trunks. The top handle is held by metal buckles, with a removable and adjustable leather strap. The Maya bag is designed in Mali, made entirely of high-quality leather, and manufactured by hand in Spain.
